Museum Piece 1950’s Handwoven Italian “La Tessitrice Capri” Set

Regular price $1,498.00

Hand-loomed and hand sewn skirt set with matching fabric belt. An insanely well-executed, awe-inspiring couture garment. Museum quality. Rare and one-of-a-kind.

Note: We found limited information about this label as it is likely late 1940’s Italian couture. The craftsmanship is second to none. How it began...

Giovanni Battista Giorgini “Bista” lover of the arts, entrepreneur and business man, having been hit hard during the depression and 1929 crash left New York and returned to Florence opening the “Three Rooms” dedicated to Italian products. Having struggled making a successful business venture following WWII he organized the “First Italian High Fashion Show” February 12 1951. Big hitters from NY fashion came... the likes of B. Altman and Company, Morgan’s of Montreal, American Vogue (Jessica Daves), I. Magnin, and Bergdorf Goodman. Designers such as  Emilio Pucci, and Baroness Clarette Gallotti of La Tessitrice Dell'Isola who is of importance to our research here, we’re represented. Needless to say the event was an astounding success and the the rest, as they say, is history. Clarette Gallotti appears to be the brainchild and fairly obscure designer attributed to this unbelievable set. Nothing as confounding and glorious has ever crossed our path.
