Helmut Lang M-47 parka S/S02 46
Ahead of his time as always, Helmut Lang presented his Spring/Summer 2002 show via the internet, CDs, look books, and show tapes. Originally planned to be shown in Paris, Lang insisted that he had to be in New York at the time and that presenting the show in the city was his way of helping support local business. This collection was a marriage of sex and science, featuring cut-out silhouettes alongside more technical fabrics and traditional outerwear. Lang pitted hard and soft materials against each other throughout the show, covering up more sensual materials like silks with functional partners like metallic and patent leathers as well as water resistant blends.
