STRAPPY SANDALS_ Hermès_ EARLY 2000s

An undeniable Spring / Summer essential. Known to be one of the oldest forms of footwear, sandals are a wardrobe essential thousands of years in the making. As the sun starts to shine, slip into timeless Leather Sandals.

I look to the 1990s for minimal slides, or venture back to the 1960s and 1970s for more handmade woven leather styles such as Mexican huarache sandals. I also like to search for second-hand modern-day classics like the Birkenstock Arizona or Yves Saint Laurent Tribute.

Brands to look for: Anne Klein, Ancient Greek, Bally, Birkenstock, Calvin Klein, Coach, Gucci, Hermès, Jil Sander, Jimmy Choo, K Jacques, Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Robert Cergerie, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sesto Meucci, Tods.

Key decades: 1960s- 2000s.

Fabrics: 100% Leather

Colors: Black, tan, brown, white, gold, silver.

Style notes: Upkeep is key! Get your vintage sandals resoled before you wear them so they’ll last for years to come.
